Sometimes I use a tripod, but often I find it gets in the way for the outdoors shots like this. Sometimes I use extension tubes behind the lens, if I want more magnification.
Occasionally I go crazy and put everything I have that will fit behind or in front of the lens...I still have a lot of learning to do.
