Swelling buds of the Sara tree

Posted by Ray (Bangkok, Thailand) on 18 October 2007 in Plant & Nature.

The Sara tree [aka Cannonball tree, because of the connonball-like fruit] is sacred to Buddhists as it was this species under which he was born and died. The tree is not native to Thailand, but can be found in the grounds of many temples.
